People love Monique and hate Candiace for the exact same reasons.. Both are unambiguous pretty black women from opposite sides of the tracks.. Monique came from the hood (which she proudly claims) and lucked up by marrying wealth. She met her husband fresh outta high school at 19. Men in Chris’s league normally do not go for women who look like Monique. As we know many black athletes or musicians either marry non black, lightskin or mixed women (colorism). So many view Monique and her life as goals and that’s why she’s worshipped. Because she literally got the come up and there aren’t many representations of Monique and her lifestyle on TV. Then we have Candiace who was born into money and she is very unapologetic about it. So she’s hated because many of us always associate black success with struggle. If you look at our current black billionaires, they all have a a rags to riches story. But since she’s never had to struggle and she doesn’t fit the image of someone who was born into generational wealth, she’s attacked for everything else. Then the fact her husband is not black, that’s another layer. No difference than people hating Wendy because she’s brags on having 4 degrees.
